Esa es la superficie que ocuparía la mina de uranio que la compañía Berkeley Minera España S.A. quiere abrir en la provincia de Salamanca. Este proyecto minero es uno de los muchos que han proliferado en la España de la crisis económica y sería la única mina de uranio de Europa. Para llevarlo a cabo,  habría que arrancar 25.000 árboles  (robles, alcornoques y encinas).  No podemos permitirlo, y por eso  hemos iniciado esta petición . La minería de uranio conlleva grandes impactos ambientales y de salud pública. Además, también figura en este proyecto un riesgo adicional:  el enterramiento en la propia dehesa de los residuos,

Furthermore, both these sites are UNESCO-designated test beds for innovative sustainable development practices.
